A tiger (obviously), taken with the Nikon 1 V1 with te 1 Nikkor VR 30-110mm f/3.8-5.6 @ 1/125s, f6.3, ISO640.
This is shot through a piece of pretty dirty glass so there are spots where the tiger’s spots are a bit soft. I really wanted to go place an 18% grey card next to the tiger so that I could get the white balance perfect, but alas the glass was in the way.
I’ve pushed the greens an blues back a notch in saturation so that the full awesomeness of the kitty can show through. It’s nice to carry around a nearly 300mm equivalent in a tiny package.
[p.s. - my one big beef with Lightroom is that if you publish a photo to Flickr and then go back to Lightroom and make any minor tweak - even something as little as going into the Developer IIRC - Lightroom feels compelled to re-publish to Flickr. There’s no way to say, “don’t bother posting this update”. Might not sound like a big deal, but it ends up breaking the links between Flickr and my blog. PITA….

I’ve taken thousands of photos of Nate, but none of his butt. Until now. This one reminds me of those photos of people lying face down on the ground, one of which was a controversial winner of a well-known photo competition. Nate could give that photo a run for its money I’m sure.
Pentax K-01 with the DA21mm F3.2 which is more or less welded onto the camera. 1/20s, F3.2, ISO3200. In this age of F2.8 zooms, F3.2 doesn’t sound like much, but ISO3200 and image stabilization help a lot. With cat butts, among other things.
